Clare and Arty’s Creation Station Experience- Week 3 and 4

Week 3 Little Explorer Classes: 

“Arty discovered the colour yellow this week. So sunny and bright! Everything was yellow, shapes, paint, bricks, balls, lots of different textures and interesting toys and other things to use in making a wonderful ‘creation’. Arty was a little bit hyperactive this morning. He enjoyed doing some painting and then he enjoyed running around the room much to my horror, but Helen was great, she put me at ease and told me that it’s okay, he’s just being a little boy and lots of children are like this. Not a problem at all. Phew! We painted our feet and made sunflowers. It was a lovely session and even though Arty was on the move a lot during this one, he still got lots out of the art on offer :)”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Week 4 Little Explorer Classes: 

“This week, Arty was a lot more settled and eager to see what was in Helen’s box. He sat with the others and did the ‘Creation Station’ song with Helen and he did all the actions as well. Love the use of words like ‘creation, station, imagination and develops’ in the song. It sets the mood and lets the children know that it’s time to settle in and get ‘creating’ for the next hour. Then, of course the familiar Creation Station CD is played and this always sets a lovely tone for
the whole session ahead. Right, down to business and today’s theme is the colour… Blue! Arty is excited. He sits straight down in his little red overalls and gets to work, smearing large splodges of blue paint all over a huge piece of wallpaper. He rolls blue balls through the paint and he paints blocks with letters of the alphabet raised on them, then prints them onto the paper and we say each letter as he does it and encourage him to have a go too. Helen tells us to ask him what colour the sky is, what colour the sea is and then we start to make ‘sea’ and watery scenes onto smaller pieces of paper for what will be our aquatic picture scene. Arty is given tissue paper and we roll it into little balls and use PVA glue to stick them onto the paper as well. We cut little pieces of coloured paper, triangles, circles and then we also stick them onto the picture. Arty is encouraged to have a go. He loves cutting and sticking now and he didn’t know how to do this before. He is really keen to try now and is better every week. We went home with a very nice, colourful ocean scene picture. And a very proud two and a half year old. I love how Creation Station encourages parents to get involved and sees the importance of developing parent creative skills and confidence in doing Art with their children. We also, feel a huge sense of pride and building bonds with our children and understanding their individuality and needs.”.

How To Make A Children’s Crafty Medal

With the Olympics in full swing there is lots of inspiration to be inspired. Some of the families who come to The Creation Station classes have told us have set up their own family sports events in the garden.

Whether you are getting sporty or just looking for fun activities to do, have a look at the fun and simple medal making activity.

This craft activity can help develop your child’s fine motor skills, attention to detail, and help to inspire your child’s imagination.

The medal is great to use in role play, for example winning their own medal for their own achievements whilst watching the sports players win theirs.

Entertain Your Child This Summer With This Easy Low Cost And Fun Seaside Mobile Children’s Crafts Activity

Have you ever struggled to keep your child entertained during the summer or whilst on holiday? Here’s a fun and simple children’s arts and crafts activity for you to enjoy.  Plus, the bonus is that rather than having to go shopping for all the products many of the items you need for this fun children’s crafts mobile you can find for free in your recycling box or when you go for a walk. You could even go on a nature trail with your child to collect natural items that captures and sparks their interest.

By encouraging your child to collect the items,  chat through and plan the activity together and then creating their own unique mobile will help your child develop their concentration and their own ideas. Fun Father’s Day Gift

Here at Inspiration House, home to The Creation Station Creative hub team we were privileged to have two special guests join us. Jess and Sophie came in and got creative and made their Daddy some very special personalized crafts in our creative zone.

Lots of glitter, glue and other fun materials later, the zone was buzzing with fun fathers day crafts activities.

All the team were really delighted to also receive our own very personalized special creative gift too.

Colour & Create Your Own Cool Queen’s Corgi

For most of us a birthday comes once a year, but like Paddington bear our monarch Queen Elizabeth has 2 birthdays and this year is celebrating her 90th year with 8 official days of fun entertainment, from street parties to concerts.

So here’s a few fun facts that you might not know about our #Queenat90 –

1. Her Majesty is well known for her love of corgis, having received her first one as an 18th birthday present named Susan.
2. The Queen once invented a new breed of dog called the ‘dorgi’ after she mated her pet corgi with one of Princess Margaret’s dachshunds. The dorgi was named chipper, however, he was killed after The Queen Mother’s dog attacked him.
3. On the topic of dogs, Her Majesty once demoted a royal footman after it was discovered he had been getting the corgis drunk by mixing whisky and gin to their food and water.
