Creation Station Christmas Countdown – Day 22

Christmas Tree Topper

Make your own Christmas Tree topper by cutting a semi circle of card and wrapping it around to make a cone. Sellotape this together and then decorate how you wish. Check out these fantastic ideas, why not make an angel, Christmas tree, or Father Christmas as guardians of your tree.

Creation Station Christmas Countdown – Day 19

Frosty Branches

Your will need:

  • Foil
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Glitter

Step 1

Tear strips of kitchen foil and tightly scrunch them into long twigs.

Step 2

Twist two twigs around each other, us an extra piece of foil to scrunch around the join. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to build up your whole branch.

Step 3

Using your scissors cut out some leaf shapes from the foil, include an extra bit on the bottom of the leaf to twist onto the branch then glue this in place. Repeat until you have leaves on all of your twigs.

Step 4

Add some extra twinkle to your frosty branches by brushing some glue onto the leaves and sprinkling with glitter.

Step 5

Hang up your branch and decorate your house. It looks great around mirrors and windows.

Creation Station Christmas Countdown – Day 18

Wrapping Paper

Have you run out of wrapping paper already? Why not help the children make their own?

Check out the fantastic home made wrapping paper The Creation Station Wakefield has been having fun making!

You will need:

  • Large sheet of paper – A3 will be large enough for some presents
  • Paint
  • Brushes/Sponges
  • Stencils
  • Felt tips

Step 1 

Think about your design, do you want a repeating pattern for example lots of stars or snowflakes? or maybe some foot print images? do you want to draw little cartoon funny faces? do you want to use stencils?

Step 2

Get creative and start decorating your paper.

Every present can have different wrapping paper so experiment with different methods.

Creation Station Christmas Countdown – Day 20

Present Labels

Why not make some great present labels to go with your fantastic home made wrapping paper and make your gifts really personal this year!

You will need:

  • Card
  • Ribbon or String
  • Stickers
  • Paint/Felt tips
  • Glitter
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Step 1

Gather all of the left over Christmas wrapping materials, including ribbon, paper, fancy sellotape etc. Have fun collages different shapes to make your labels. You may need to prep some shapes like trees, baubles, snowmen, candy canes in card.

Step 2 

Don’t forget to make a hole to thread through the string or ribbon. You could even use pipe cleaners to attach the labels to the presents.

Add lots of festive sparkle with your own fantastic designs.

Creation Station Christmas Countdown – Day 15

Foil Tree Decorations

You will need:

  • Foil
  • Pen
  • Magazine
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Sellotape
  • Ribbon or Thread

Step 1

Cut a piece of foil twice the size of your decoration. Place the  shiny side down and spread glue over the foil. Fold the foil in half and lay on top of a magazine. Then gently rub the foil so that the layers stick together.

Step 2

Use a ball point pen to draw the outline of your design. Press as hard as you would draw and add as much detail as you want.

Step 3

Use scissors to cut around the design, cut a little way from the outline.

Step 4 

Tape a loop of thread or ribbon to the back so that you can hang it on your tree.

Creation Station Christmas Countdown – Day 16

Santa Spoon

You will need:

  • A wooden spoon
  • Wiggly eyes
  • Cotton Wool
  • Tissue paper/Crepe Paper
  • Glitter
  • Buttons
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Pom poms
  • Glue
  • Double sided tape
  • … all the materials listed above are optional, you could use any selection of collage materials to decorate your spoon.

Step 1

Give your Santa some arms by twisting a pipe cleaner around the handle of the spoon. Make sure to leave an equal length either side of the handle. You can then us these to attach his red cloths to. To make these you can use either tissue paper or crepe paper or even fabric. Add a belt by cutting a thin strip of black paper.

Step 2

Build up his beard and hair using either cotton wool or tissue paper.

Step 3

Cut out a triangle of red paper to make his hat. Add a pom pom or some more cotton wool on top of his hat.

Step 4

Finally bring him to life by gluing on some wiggly eyes and adding a mouth.

Your Santa spoon is now finished. You could stand him up in your window or outside your door to make sure Santa stops by to deliver your presents.
