Ghostly Skeleton Lantern
Looking for a last minute accessory for your trick or treat outfit? Why not make a ghostly lantern to light your way.
You will need:
- 2 Plastic milk bottles (ideally 4 pint for the body and 2 pint for the head- but any sized bottle will work)
- Black sugar paper
- White card
- Sellotape
- Scissors
- Double sided tape
- Blue tack
- Battery powered tealight
Step 1:
Wash out your milk bottles. Get an adult to help cut out a section of the bottom of one of the bottles. This needs to be large enough to leave a shelf to place a tealight on or a small torch. Cover the edges of the hole with sellotape to avoid any injuries.
The handle of the bottle will be useful for carrying the lantern. The bottle should now look like this:
Step 2:
Place the second bottle on top, make sure it is upside down and facing the opposite way to the body. The handle then becomes a nose. Using sellotape secure the two bottles tightly together.
Step 3:
Cut out your spooky eyes from black sugar paper. Design a logo to go on the aliens body or try cutting out small pieces of black sugar paper to make the shadows of his rib cage. Use double sided tape to attach these. If it is looking rainy outside use the sellotape to stick on top of the paper to make it waterproof.
If it is dry outside and you are feeling adventurous try making some arms and legs from white card. Sellotape these to the body of your skeleton.
Step 4:
Use some tape or blue tack to secure a small battery powered tealight in the little shelf you created in the bottom of you skeleton.
You are now ready to light the way with your spooky lantern.
